A pitched roof is a roof that slopes downwards, classically in two parts at an angle from a central ridge, but occasionally in one part, from one edge to another. The ‘pitch’ of a roof is its upright rise separated by its horizontal span and is a measure of its steepness.

Leak Testing

We provide our own in-house leak tests, which will comprise of a visual test or a rain simulation test to identify where the issue is occurring, a detailed photographic report is provided upon completion of the test.
We also have a panel of third-party leak testers who carry out:
Electronic leak detection which is where a metal probe is inserted into the roof and it identifies where there are any damages to the roof.
Dewatering this where a tailor-made machine will extract all water from underneath the system.
Rainwater simulation testing.

Green roof/blue roof/brown roof

A green roof or living roof is a roof of a building that is partially or completely covered with vegetation and a growing medium, planted over a waterproofing membrane.
Types of green roofs:
– Sedum roofs.

– Sedum seeded system (most popular green roofing system as it comprises 9 different species of sedum to change appearance seasonally).

Brown Roofs is soil laid on a roof and is a cheaper alternative to a green roof, which would comply with planning conditions. Customers can spread their own spreads seeds on the roof.

Rainwater Goods

Rainwater goods are products installed on the exterior of the building to protect it from rain. Rainwater goods guide water away from the building to avoid standing water, which in prevents water from seeping into the building and causing damaging to the internal parts of the building.
We can supply and install:
– 1.2mm thick aluminium rainwater goods, powder coated to a standard colour of the customer’s choice. We prefer to avoid plastic rainwater goods due to the likelihood of damage and the need for continued maintenance over the years. However, we are not opposed to supplying and install any rainwater goods, should those materials be specifically requested by customer.

Roofing Survey

Our roofing surveys include a visual inspection (in-person or drone survey) of the roof as well as providing a detailed assessment based on the following sections of the roof:
Roof coverings; including the type, condition, and defects.
Flashing; general condition and the ability to prevent leaks.
Chimneys; condition of brickwork, pointing, pots and flaunching.
Drainage and guttering; drainage defects and potential damp problems.
Parapet walls: condition of pointing, brickwork, render and capping.
Skylights, including Velux windows; condition and likelihood of leaks.
Fascias, soffits and barge boards; general condition and possible issues.
Internal structure; condition of timbers and visible signs of stress.
Upon completion of the survey a detailed report will be provided, with supporting photos and our recommendations.

Scaffolding is where a temporary structure is erected outside of a building, made of wooden planks and metal poles.
